STERLING, Colo. – The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Golf team won the Northeastern Junior College golf tournament with a score of 596. McCook Community College finished second with a score of 604.
“The guys took advantage of some good weather and played some solid golf to get both a team win and the individual win from Trey Massey,” coach Zach Smith said. “Trey is always checking on his teammates during the tournament to see how they are doing and to offer support so I was happy to see him get the win. We are preparing for the challenging course at McCook that we play at this week.”
Leading the Lancers was sophomore Trey Massey from Lander. Massey had a two-day total of 144, shooting 71 and 73. Other Lancer scores were as follows: George Elliott, freshman, Salisbury, UK, 72-74 – 146, tied second; Gonzalo Arcelay Fernandez-Meras, freshman, Munguia, Spain, 77-73 – 150, tied seventh; Jared Pilkington, sophomore, Scottsbluff, Neb., 77-79 – 156; Dalton Bingham, freshman, Riverton, Utah, 79-80 – 159; Cameron Heath, freshman, Bolton, UK, 81-80 – 161.
