TORRINGTON – The Torrington Trailblazer cross-country team hosted its sole home invitational of the season Friday in and around Wiseman Field, with nine different Blazers snagging top-10 finishes.
In the boys race, William Fluckiger led the way for Torrington, finishing third with a time of 18:50. Behind Fluckiger, a flood of Blazers crossed the line. Pake Haun came in under 20 minutes, taking fourth with a time of 19:50. Rounding out the top-five for Torrington was Jacob Polkowske (20:05), Cameron Juma (20:18) and Quentin Meyer (20:19) who finished fifth, sixth and seventh. Anthony Munoz also competed in the boys varsity race, taking ninth with a time of 20:38.
For the varsity girls, Renee Cline picked up the top spot for Torrington, finishing fourth after clocking a time of 23:42, with Jaiden Hopkins hot on her heels with a time of 23:45 to take fifth. Shelby Schainost rounded out the varsity girls for Torrington, sneaking into the top-10 with a time of 25:50, earning her ninth.
In JV action, Tristan Kingsley and Jesse Lay finished back-to-back, taking first and second with time of 21:47 and 21:48. Angel Alsides took fourth, clocking a time of 22:58. Brittney Schlager picked up a win in the girls JV race with a time of 27:29.
The Blazer runners return to action for the Glen Legler Invitational in Casper on Friday.
