Southeast falls in road test


MITCHELL, Neb. – Despite Hailey Anderson and Ellie Schmitt combining for 20 blocks Tuesday, the Southeast Lady Cyclones dropped a three-set match on the road against Mitchell.

The Lady Cyclones dropped the first set 25-15. In the second and third sets, Southeast kept it closer, but still lost both, with the score sitting at 25-17 for both sets.

Anderson continued to fill up her stat sheet, recording 12 kills, four digs and three blocks. Her marks in both kills and blocks were team-highs. Schmitt chipped in another eight kills, which she paired with nine assists, seven digs and a block of her own. Schmitt paced Southeast in assists, with nine, and tied Macie Murphy for the most digs. Murphy rounded out her stat line with an ace.

Kassidy McClun had a solid night at the service line, recording a team-high three aces. She also had eight assists against the Lady Tigers. Kylie Carson recorded a kill, two blocks and an assist of her own.

Whitney Foos, Kelci Lovercheck and Breann Hort combined for 11 digs and an ace in the loss.

The loss puts Southeast at 12-5 on the season, with a 2-0 record in their conference. The Lady Cyclones played Glenrock on Thursday after press time. They return to action on the road against Lusk on Saturday. The varsity contest has a first serve at 3 p.m.
